Terms of use

Effective October 20, 2026.

These are the plain-English rules for using HomeCareFinder (myhomecarefinder.com), its data downloads, API and MCP server. By using the site, you agree to them. If you don't agree, please don't use the site. Who runs HomeCareFinder, and our ownership disclosure, are on About & ownership.

Information only, not advice

HomeCareFinder explains kinds of senior care, what they cost and who pays, and lists licensed providers from public data. It is general information. It is not medical, legal, financial, insurance or care advice, and it doesn't replace talking with a doctor, lawyer, benefits counselor or the provider. Using the site doesn't create a professional relationship with us. In an emergency, call 911.

Where our data comes from

Medicare home health listings and star ratings come from CMS Care Compare (July 2026 release). Private-pay listings come from California CDSS licensing data. Costs are cited from the CareScout Cost of Care Survey 2025. These sources can be out of date or wrong, and we can make mistakes copying or organizing them. Each page shows its source and date. Before choosing a provider, confirm its license, services, prices, availability and whether it serves your address with the provider and the licensing agency. To report an error, email us with the page address.

No endorsement

A listing is not a recommendation or an endorsement. We don't inspect, vet, license or supervise any provider, and we aren't responsible for the care or services any provider gives. Medicare home health lists are ordered by CMS star ratings, which are CMS's measures, not our opinion; private-pay lists are alphabetical. The order of our lists can't be bought. Every provider in a list is placed by the same rule, and paying never adds anyone to a list, moves anyone up or down, or removes anyone. Providers are not our employees or agents.

We link to other sites, such as Medicare.gov, state agencies and providers' own pages. We don't control them and aren't responsible for their content, privacy practices or services; their own terms apply.

Today we have no paid partners, sponsors or paid listings. If we add any, they will be labeled as ads where they appear and described first on How we make money.

Using our data, API and MCP server

You may use our pages, downloads, static JSON API and read-only MCP server, including in AI assistants and apps, for any lawful purpose that follows these rules:

  • Medicare data. CMS data is a U.S. government work, and you may reuse our CMS-based files freely. Please cite: "HomeCareFinder, based on CMS Care Compare Home Health Care Agencies data (July 2026)."
  • California data stays under the California sources' own terms; we don't relicense it. For files from the CalHHS Open Data Portal, the CalHHS Open Data Terms apply: if you republish the data, credit the California Department of Social Services, Community Care Licensing Division, with the source page and date, and say it has been modified and isn't official government data.
  • Other state data, when we add it, stays under that state's own terms. Neither HomeCareFinder nor its data is endorsed by any government agency.
  • CareScout cost figures belong to CareScout Holdings, Inc. We cite them; we can't license them to you. Don't copy or republish them in bulk without CareScout's permission.
  • Our own content. Our guides, page text, design and the HomeCareFinder name are ours. You may quote short passages with a link to the page. Don't copy whole pages or present our site as your own.
  • When an AI assistant or app shows our data, please name HomeCareFinder and the original source (such as CMS Care Compare) and link to the page.
  • Don't: overload or disrupt the site (use the bulk downloads instead of rapid-fire requests); try to get around security or limits; use listings to send spam, robocalls or unwanted texts; present our data as official government data, or as a rating or endorsement by HomeCareFinder; or suggest that HomeCareFinder endorses you or your product.
  • The API and MCP server are free and may change, be rate-limited or be switched off at any time without notice. We may block any use that breaks these terms.

Newsletter

The newsletter is free, and you can unsubscribe at any time. How we handle your email address is in our Privacy policy.

No warranty

To the fullest extent the law allows, the site, its data, the API and the MCP server are provided "as is" and "as available," without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including accuracy, completeness, fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement. We don't promise the site will always be available or free of errors.

Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent the law allows, HomeCareFinder and its owner are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or for any loss that comes from using the site or its data or from any provider's care or services. If we are found liable anyway, our total liability to you is limited to $100. Some places don't allow these limits, so they may not apply to you. Nothing in these terms limits rights that the law says can't be limited.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Texas, without regard to its conflict-of-law rules. Any protections your own state's law gives you that can't be waived still apply.

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms. We'll post the new version on this page with a new effective date. Changes apply from that date forward, not to anything that happened before.
